What are fixed point mounts?

Fixed point (or Fixpoint) mounts are factory mounting points built into the roof of the vehicle. They’re often hidden under small covers or trim pieces and are designed to take a vehicle-specific roof rack fitting kit.

Because the mounting points, spacing and hardware can vary between vehicles, the right roof rack depends on your make, model, year and roof layout. That’s where vehicle-specific kits matter.

No. Fixed points are mounting points built into the roof, while roof rails run along the roofline. Fixed point systems usually use dedicated brackets or foot packs that attach directly to those factory points.

Do all fixed point vehicles use the same roof racks?

No. Fixed point spacing, mounting hardware and roof shape vary between vehicles. A kit that fits one model may not fit another, even if both vehicles have fixed points.

Can I install fixed point roof racks myself?
