Frequently asked questions
Can the Thule ReVert carry e-bikes?
Yes. The Thule ReVert 4 has a total load capacity of 100kg, with a maximum bike weight of 25kg per position. This makes it suitable for many lighter e-MTBs, provided each bike and the total combined load remain within those limits. Remove the batteries before loading where practical to reduce weight.
What size hitch receiver does the ReVert require?
The Thule ReVert 4 is designed for a 2-inch square hitch receiver. It does not fit a 1.25-inch receiver. Your vehicle and hitch must also be suitably rated for the combined weight of the rack and all bikes being carried.
What bike sizes fit the Thule ReVert?
As standard, the ReVert fits bikes with wheels up to 29 inches, tyres up to 3 inches wide and wheelbases up to 1350mm. Optional accessories are available separately for 24-inch wheels and fat-bike tyres up to 5 inches wide.
Does the ReVert touch the bike frame or fork?
No. The ReVert supports and secures each bike through the wheels, using rubber contact points that avoid direct contact with the bike frame or fork. This also makes it a good option for carbon-frame bikes.
Does the Thule ReVert tilt for rear vehicle access?
Yes. The dual-direction TiltAssist damper helps control the rack as it lowers and raises, including when bikes are loaded. Tilting the rack may provide access to the rear hatch or tailgate, although actual clearance depends on the vehicle.
Will the ReVert cover my number plate or rear lights?
It may, depending on your vehicle and how the bikes sit on the rack. Check the complete setup from behind before driving. If the vehicle registration plate is obscured, you may need an official supplementary plate. Read our NZ supplementary plate guide .
How is the Thule ReVert shipped?
Due to its size and weight, the Thule ReVert needs to be shipped via oversize freight to your local Mainfreight depot. Available delivery options and any applicable charges will be shown at checkout.
Will this rack cover your number plate?
If the rack or your bikes obscure the vehicle’s registration plate, you may need an official supplementary plate. This can apply even when the rack is fitted without bikes.
